If the partners are equally good and do not make serios mistakes, the thing is almost always the end-game. In this case it is most often the more experienced and knowledgeable that wins. Young chess players tend to dislike playing boring (in their opinion) positions. Millions of well-started games were lost at one move when the position was equally good to that of the partner or even better. Even more games were lost despite of the number of advantages quite sufficient to win. Young talented players are often afraid of endings, being quite sure that they will necessarily lose.

This is the reason why in the last, 4th , "Problutions" book we have tried to help the young sportsmen. The authours gathered here the basic typical positions that one has to know just like one knows his times tables. And to make it more entertaining, we have included interesting examples from the champions' games and incredible studies by famous chess composers.

By the way, all world champions believe that it is necessary to study endings. V. Smyslov recommends young players to pay very serious attention to endgame. J. R. Capablanka thinks that to be able to play the ending is an indispensible condition of practical success. And " the grandfather of Russian chess" A. Petrov says that to know how to play the ending is to know how to play.

We are quite sure that when you have solved all the problems in the fourth " Problutions" book, you will like simple positions. And then it will be no difficulty for you to build "a bridge", "a square" or "a staircase" on the board. By the way, at the end of the game you will encounter all the tactical moves that you will have learnt.

The tasks and combinations in the book are divided in three levels:

  • "cadet" - rating 1700 - 1800
  • "officer" - rating 1800 - 1900
  • "king" - rating 1900 - 2100

English, German and Russian languages
